Buena Vista games dives into the Live Arcade with Novadrone, a futuristic demolition derby with a shiny coat of psychedelic paint slapped on for good measure. Utilizing Live to match players with up to 8 gamers in multiplayer mode, Novadrone also features a sometimes frustrating single player campaign.

The objective of Novadrone, regardless of the purported “game-type”, is to blast and smash your opponents to smithereens. In career mode you’ll get the opportunity to choose which vehicle you want to use before each match, but it won’t really change your tactics. We found that the best bet, both online and off, was to attempt to ram our opponents head first to victory. After a few hours of bashing, the games glaring colors and over-active environments will burn you out.

Had the controls for Novadrone felt tighter, we might have been able to give this title higher marks. Unfortunately the floaty, unresponsive controls add the final layer of frustration to this shiny title. Download the demo and see for yourself before you spend any hard earned scratch.
